What's with the name?

When I was about to launch the Kickstarter campaign that started it all, I needed a name for the project. I wanted something simple and fun that spoke to the fact that our products would be engraved and cut - in fact, burned in a very precise way - with a laser. What else gets burned? Well, toast does. And the name just stuck.      

Our story

Toast was launched in January 2012 with the help of the 300 intrepid people who backed our Kickstarter project. This crowdsourced funding made it possible to buy our first laser and get our fledgling company up and running. Thank you, backers!

Since those early days of cutting covers in my basement shop, Toast has grown quickly and is now a team effort. "Team Toast" is now 10 of us, all working hard to create the most amazing tech covers known to man and get them onto gadgets all around the world. We do every stage of our production and create every aspect of our business in-house in our studio/shop space in the exciting Montavilla neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.
