Pet Owners Should Reconsider
I got a custom design for my Pixel 7 Pro. The process of working with the design team was great, and they did an excellent job! The case/skin looked great when I first put it on, and was easy to get on with an excellent fit. The wait time was also totally reasonable and acceptable. My experience with them is why this is a 2 star review and not a 1 star. I'm docking the rest of the stars because I feel like Toast's phone application design is inherently super flawed and it didn't take long at all to see the issues after putting it on. Hair and dust collects in the crevasses so quickly. The very first time I put it in my pocket and took it back out, it looked like I pulled a used lint roller paper out. I also think this case/skin won't last more than maybe a couple months. There are ample pieces that can easily get caught on things and rip off, and I already (2-3 days after application) have a broken corner on the front piece. It feels really uncomfortable and fragile in your hand, so even if you don't think your phone being a lint and hair magnet is a problem, I would still reconsider. It's pokey and feels like it's inevitable that it'll destroy itself from catching and sticking to things. I don't think there's a warranty, so even if you were okay reapplying one every few months, I think you'd have to pay out of pocket for every replacement. Also, I don't think it offers any protection at all past daily wear and tear scratches, and even then I'm worried there may be residue or damage from the adhesive when I remove it. I understand it's supposed to be thin and is more of a skin than a case, but something worth considering, imo. The design looks so great that I'm gonna put up with my phone essentially being outlined in lint and hair 24/7 until it does fall apart, but I will definitely not be purchasing another phone case/skin. I would absolutely consider Toast for things like laptops, gaming consoles, or other large, flat devices, but I suspect the issues with the phone application would be true regardless of phone model. The puzzle-like pieces allowing the skin/case to flex around the edges is a really cool idea and application is as easy as can be, but it doesn't hold up in the day to day at all, unfortunately. I really wanted to like this case. Toast seems like a great company too, so don't take this as me slamming all of their products. This review is more so just a warning that I wish I would've read before spending $70 on the product. I would consider Toast again for a PC or something, but I think their phone designs are hugely problematic. I'm still excited about how cool the custom design is and how great the case/skin itself looks (after I spend 5-10 minutes getting all the hair and lint out). The adhesive is definitely up to the job, the wood seems high quality, and the custom design process was great, as mentioned at the beginning, but the phone skin/case just doesn't work well in real world usage /:

Thanks for taking the time to write such an in-depth review. The lint issue goes away after a couple of days. It is the very thin line of exposed adhesive on the edges of the wood. It quickly stops doing that. We do warranty the covers for 30 days so any issues or breakage simply send us a photo. Please let us know after a few days how your cover is holding up.
